Independence Mine

I wish we lingered and photographed the waterfalls and vantage points along the road to Independence Mine. I certainly take for granted that this amazing valley with a maintained summer road that will take you across Hatcher's Pass is only an hour away. The views are fantastic, the mountains brilliant and the water is crystal blue clear. Nevertheless, the gold mine itself is awesome - well restored yet ruined. A shocking contrast already in this rugged place.
Unsurprisingly maybe, most of the photos of this trip are of the boys in the back of the truck... Miming animals; moose, crabs, and rabbits.
