playing in the leaves.
The leaves are just falling off the trees leaving our yard bright yellow. Everett had fun kicking them around and examining leaf after leaf.

big fish.
This is the speckled back of an incredibly beautiful twenty pound steelhead (catch and release, of course) that was the highlight of Matt's recent trip. Visit his site to read his new posts and to see more pictures.

playing with spoons.
Well, if you are regular visitors of my Mom's blog then you already know I started a new one just for me. She leaked it's debut just a little earlier than I intended, but I truly appreciate her encouragement. I am enjoying the freedom of my own site where I can ramble on and on, recording my encounters with the wonderful. It has a different tone than this site since this weblog is truly focused on family, especially Everett. Even Matt has his own blog. (If you haven't been over there in a while you should really check out his cool creations.)

Iditarod
Well, today was the ceremonial start of the Iditarod. We missed it though due to poor planning and a bit of dawdling. So we just went for a walk. I've been terrible with picture taking lately and this makes me mad. I'd blame the computer because we've had some problems with it lately, but that doesn't seem fair. Here are some Iditarod photos from 2005.
Instead of a new picture of Everett (you just saw a MOVIE of him yesterday) I'll just try and give a run down of his "development".
No. He's not sleeping through the night. Not lately due to the four teeth slicing their way through his mouth. Last night felt more normal however, and that was nice.
He is a very mobile baby for not yet being able to crawl. Like his cousins once were, he is adept at wiggling, rolling, and tumbling from toy to toy. I used to carpet the floor with blankets and quilts for him to play on but I think he prefers the wood floor now because he can pivot himself around on his tummy.
He's clumsy about sitting up, but that's okay with him since he would rather be wiggling from place to place.
He's amazingly detailed with his finger motions. He likes to watch his fingers toy with a small object. He'll put something down just so he can pick it up again and again.
His favourite food is avacado. He likes to drink water from our glasses.

Again!
More Everett playing on the floor. No audible sound again, not sure why but I'll keep trying. His squeals and squawks are usually at full volume.

Everett Plays.
Check it out... we're web savvy.
We're on skype too, so give us a call. Video-style.
Next time the video will be better, I just had to see if it would work.

No more tangles.
I did it. My hair was sooooo long. I didn't notice it growing, but one day last week I noticed it down past the middle of my back. So, I hastily made an appointment. It was long enough to donate to locks of love. So far I'm thrilled. We'll see how it grows on me.
O, Everett's making the funny face because he's just learned to grind his teeth. His top left tooth has started to cut through. That's right, he's grinding all three teeth.

Homer Beach
It's that time of year again. By late February, the sunlight returns at a remarkable pace and something about the angle of this light makes the ice and snow sparkle. Winter is beautiful again.
A trip to Homer this weekend gave us a mini vacation from the laundry, the dishes, the unfinished projects, etc. We return to Anchorage with a new found clarity of thought.
We love Homer.

Yummy?
Finally, Everett gets some food. In honour of his six month birthday, he (sort of) enjoyed some organic sweet potato mash made by me.
Congratulations to Lisa and Mike and their beautiful new family!

Ice, Flies and Fish
Winter has been good to us but we haven't been up to much excitement - except for Everett, of course. He keeps us busy.
On a personal note, January has been all about balance. I've recently become enlightened of the craft revolution underway so I've been getting back into knitting while trying to maintain a balance of parenting, crafting, working from home, and playing outside. Matt too is striving for a balance between work, family, and fun. Keeping him busy this month was organizing a bi-national fly swap of steelhead flies. He even started a blog to document them in all their glory. I've also added the link to the sidebar.
I don't like to post without a photo, so I apologize for the delay between posts. Plus I think I liked those photos of Everett so much I wanted them at the top. Enjoy this photo of Matt and Everett downtown Anchorage appreciating the ice sculptures.

Snow
It's snowing again. It's just so beautiful with on top of the huge snowfall we had right around Christmas time. It's quite unbelievable too. Notice the gate in the front yard and it's impending burial.
Since it wasn't too cold, Everett and I went out for a walk (it was more like wading) to enjoy the falling snow. Check out the teeth!
